INTRODUCING THE EATON BUILDING COMPANY

Welcome to the website of Eaton Building Company, a general contracting firm that specializes in unique residential construction projects.

My name is Doug Eaton. In 1988, after more than two decades in the building trades, I started Eaton Building Company in the San Francisco Bay Area. For fifteen years I specialized in building distinct additions, remodels and custom homes in the architecturally rich regions of San Francisco Bay and the Sonoma County wine country.

In early 2000, my wife Joy and I purchased a four acre property overlooking the Temecula Valley wine country in northernmost San Diego County with the intention of moving to a more rural setting and building a house. In the fall of 2003, I designed a timberframe house to be built on the property. The first half of 2004 was taken up with selling our house in Oakland and obtaining permits to build on the property in San Diego. In late June of 2004, we broke ground. At the same time, we purchased a small house in the nearby city of Temecula to serve as a residence during construction.

This website will serve in the future as the business website for Eaton Building Company, once work on our home is completed and we resume general contracting. Until that time, it will function as a web log of sorts for the ongoing work of building our home in the Rancho Heights area of Pala, California. We will regularly post photographs that record our progress and I hope to add journal entries (or weblog) on a timely basis that describe the process of building a hand-crafted home.
